Roperite : Creature Design Commission

One of my friends is working on a game system (tabletop I believe, but I don't really have a lot of information on it), and has commissioned me to do a series of creatures. This is actually #2, but I haven't uploaded the first yet. It's a bird-like creature that spits bullets made of silt from the top of its beak (it has a special nasal chamber). The force of this bullet is entirely lung propelled, so I imagine if this thing wanted to scream it would be quite loud.

This guy went through soooo many resketches to get its design figured out. I'm glad it's done. xD

The name is taken from a folklore of sorts, but it's not really based on the critter.

A mixture of references were used for this. Cormorants, penguins, pterosaurs, grizzly bears, and other birds for musculature.

I'm also really glad to have been commissioned for something other than dragons. I mean I love doing dragons, but it's great to show I'm capable of doing other things as well.
